Notice of Race


1  GENERAL 


1.1. Mexican Sailing Federation is the Organizing Authority (OA) of MEXORC 2022 


1.2.US Sailing is the Rating Authority (RA) for the ORR classes.


1.3. The term Skipper, as used herein, is defined as the person, whether or not the owner of the boat, who is designated on the entry form for the purpose of RRS 46 and is the person in charge as it relates to the Racing Rules of Sailing or any matters related to the MEXORC. The Skipper is responsible for the boat, its handling and safety, the conduct of its crew before, during, and after the race, and compliance with the rules.


2 RULES


2.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).


2.2 No national prescriptions will apply.


3. ADVERTISING 


Boats shall display advertising chosen and supplied by the Organizing Authority. If this rule is broken, World Sailing Regulations 20.9.2 applies.



4. ENTRY AND FEES
 


4.1. Eligible boats may enter by completing the online entry form at www.mexorc.com and paying the full entry fee on or before February 15, 2024 to avoid a $200 late fee penalty. 


4.2. No entry will be accepted on or after March 1, 2024


4.3. Early Entry Fee, by December 31, 2023

$900 USD for boats under 39 feet

$1,000 USD for boats 39 to 50 feet

$1,200 USD for boats over 50 feet

Standard Entry Fee, for entries after December 31, 2023

$1,000 USD for boats under 39 feet

$1,100 USD for boats from 39 to 50 feet

$1,300 USD for boats over 51 feet

4.4 The entry fee will be refunded per the following schedule: Request for refunds made: Percentage of entry fee refunded On or before December 31 100%, January 1 – January 31* 80% On or after September January 30 : 0% * if a boat enters a class that subsequently does not meet the minimum entry requirements, she will receive a 100% refund if she does not subsequently join an established class. 


4.5 Additional Entry Requirements: a. An accurate crew list shall be submitted online via Yacht Scoring by 1700 PDT March 8. b. For boats competing in a handicapped class, a valid rating certificate shall be submitted online by March 1. Boats may not change their rating certificate after March 1, except as a result of a rating protest or to a correct an error by their RA.

5 SCHEDULE OF RACES

5.2 There will be a skippers' meeting at 9:00 am on 2nd March in the MEXORC TENT at the Flamingo Hotel. Another skipper’s meeting will be held at 9:00 am on 6th of March in the same  location, in preparation for Race 7.


6 SCORING


6.1 One race is required to be completed to constitute a series.


6.2 A boat's series score will be the total of her race scores. No score will be excluded.


6.3 Boats will be ranked based on their series score within their class and overall races. In addition, there will be an Overall MEXORC ranking, including all boats entered in the regatta counting all the regattas even if they are sailed at different times but same course.


6.4 All classes will be scored based on time-on-time (TOT) correction calculated from each boat's ORR rating as published for the race in question.


7 PRIZES

 Prizes will be awarded as follows:

Mexorc ranking by class 1, 2, 3 in each class

 

8         DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with our prior to, during, or after the regatta.

 

8         INSURANCE

Each competing boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum coverage of $250,000 USD  per event or the equivalent.
